The Good Girl: A 30-year-old female who feels her life is at a dead end becomes captivated with a young loner, and ends up setting her matrimony at risk. A rare film that manages to make a shift from comedy to poignant drama, with a denouement that’s almost heartrending-as a result of excellent inscribing and remarkable performing by the leads. Cast includes Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllen Haal, John C. Reilly, Zoey Deschanel, Tim Blake Nelson, Mike Off-white, Deborah Hurry, and John Carroll Lynch. (93 minutes, 2002)
La Provinciale: Exceptional venture fantasy in reference to an orphan gal who is chased by sky pirates and a malevolent government representative who wants to get their hands on the supernatural quartz that permits her to float and also keeps the secret to finding a treasure, a full island in the clouds. Stunning visuals, exhilarating set pieces and gripping characters make this a masterpiece of action film making; energized or otherwise, empowering a real sense of amazement. Cast includes Anna Paquin, Cloris Leachman, Mark Hamill, Mandy Patinkin, and Andy Dick. (124 minutes,’86)
Metropolis: A private investigator and his nephew track a suspect to the futuristic Metropolis, meet a bizarre gal who is really an extremely commanding android, and decipher a message sent by a rebel forces leader who plans to take over the city. This is an amazing Japanese animated movie. It is written by Katsuhiro Otomo Akira, based on a visual novel by Osamu Tezuka called Astro Boy. Rich backdrops balance with cartoon looking lead characters, although dramatic storytelling and commanding visuals defeat film’s shortcomings. Cast includes Kei Kobayashi, Kohki Okada, Taro Ishida, and Kousei Tomita. (106 minutes, 2001)
Say It Isn’t So: Pleasantly un-ambitious Klein falls for the new hairdresser in town Graham only to find out (after having sex with her) that she’s his sister! Cast includes Heather Graham, Chris Klein, Orlando Jones, Sally Field, Richard Jenkins, John Rothman, Brent Briscoe, and Sarah Silverman. (96 minutes,’88)
Dennis The Menace: This is a movie version of the’50’s comic strip. With his parents out of town Dennis is staying with the neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Wilson. As usual Dennis is making life miserable for poor Mr. Wilson.
Madagascar: A fun animated family comedy. When Marty the zebra decides he wants to see the world from outside the zoo, the penguins help him escape. Marty is gone, his friend also breaks out to find him and bring him home. Once out, they are captured by well meaning humans and shipped to Africa, to be returned to the wild. They miss Africa, and wind up on the magical island of Madagascar.
Lust for a Vampire: Carmilla, the seductress from The Vampire Lovers, preys on young students at an all girl school. Third-rate terror film is very weak. Cast includes. Ralph Bates, Yutte Stensgaard, Barbara Jefford, Michael Johnson, Suzanna Leigh, Mike Raven, and Christopher Neame (95 minutes,’71)
Belizaire the Cajun: Assante is well cast as a charismatic drug dealer in love with a Cajun woman who is the spouse of a prosperous Englishman. This is a choppy and somehow unsurprising drama in reference to the English prejudice and brutality toward the Cajuns in’th century Louisiana. Cast includes Armand Assante, Gail Youngs, Michael Schoeffiing, Stephen McHattie, Can Patton, and Nancy Barrett. (100 minutes,’86)
Eragon: Eragon is a poor young boy trying to help keep his family fed. When he finds a shiny blue stone he thinks it might bring food to the tables. The stone turns out to be an egg, a dragon egg. Eragon and this dragon were destined to be together. Now they will go on great adventures together.
If you’re looking for downloads, type in “Music Downloads Service” to a search engine, see if you find something good. Try a new phrase if that one did not work. See if “Movie Download” gets a better result.
Save yourself time and money-get movie downloads of even those hard to find gems, online. Online Films Sometimes, you may have access to top rentals but not much else. No longer do you have to sprint to the nearest movie rental store to get what you’re looking for.
