Bullitt: Definitive McQueen antihero part that he grows to love. As a cop trying to keep is witness alive. McQueen see a lot of bloodshed as the mob is out to kill the man he must protect. Kimberley Jim: Little musical of 2 carefree gamblers who win a fortune in a fixed poker game, and then have a change of heart. Cast includes Jim Reeves, Madeleine Guide, Clive Pamell, Arthur Swemmer, and Mike Holt. (82 minutes, 1965)
Red Sun: East meets West in this strange tale of a samurai fighter chasing a priceless Japanese sword stolen from a train crossing the American West. Cast includes Charles Bronson, Ursula Andress, Toshiro Mifune, Alain Delon, and Capucine. (112 minutes, 1972)
The Front Page: Third filming of the Hecht-MacArthur play about crazy and woolly Chicago newspaperman in the 1920s has barely anything new to offer (with the exception of 4-letter words) although continues to be an entertaining piece of work. Cast includes Jack Lenunon, Walter Matthau, Carol Burnett, Susan Sarandon, Vincent Gardenia, David Wayne, Allen Garfield, Austin Pendleton, and Charles Duming. (105 minutes, 1974)
Cuban Rebel Girls: Flyon’s last film is an embarrassment. Playing himself, he assists Fidel Castro in his overthrow of Batista. Shot on location throughout the Castro rebellion. Of interest only to see Flynn teamed with his very last lady friend, sixteen-year-old Aadland. Cast includes Errol Flynn, Beverly Aadland, John McKay, and Marie Edmund. (68 minutes, 1959)
Michael: A set of skeptical journalists and a fake “angel” find that a dotty old female’s claim that the archangel Michael is living with her is real. Michael, nonetheless, turns out not to be your normal angel. Genial, wry film by no means goes where you anticipate and takes its time getting there, however the trip is alluring, and Travolta, as the seedy, randy Michael, is impeccably cast. Cast includes John Travolta, Andie MacDowell, William Hurt, Robert Pastorelli, Bob Hoskins, Jean Stapleton, Teri Garr, Wally Ward, Joey Lauren Adams, Carla Gugino, Tom Hodges, and Wallace Langham. The Inkwell: A sixteen-year-old, whose toy doll confidante naturally frets his parents, comprehends in regards to love, in this summer of ‘76 reminiscence piece set in a black zone of Martha’s Vineyard. Cast includes Larenz Tate, Joe Morton, Suzzanne Douglas, Glynn Turman, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Adrienne-Joi Johnson, Morris Chestnut, Jada Pinkett, Duane Matlin, Mary Alice, and Phyllis Yvonne Stickney. After Hours: Normal man goes through a succession of weird experiences throughout one remarkable day in N.Y.C. How much you like this joke bad dream can rely on how precisely you relate to Dunne, the only common individual in the film! Cast includes Griffin Dunne, Rosanna Arquette, Verna Bloom, Thomas Chong, Linda Fiorentino, Teri Garr, John Heard, Cheech Marin, Catherine O’Hara, Dick Miller, and Bronson Pinchot. (97 minutes, 1985)
The Big Trail: Mythical Western might appear creaky to some watchers, although it continues to be considered one of the most impressive early talkies.
