Breast Feeding-A Bonding Experience

Ive noticed as Ive talking to other mothers that there has been a leading trend to use formula instead of breast milk. You want to make the right decision for your family and its important to become educated in the differences between breast milk and formula so you can do just that.

A womans body is made to give her child all the things that it stands in need of. As such, breast milk is designed especially for your newborn, no substitute will give it all the things that your body inherently knows it needs. Actually, the AAP encourages that babies are only breastfed for the first 6 months.

They say this because of all the things that breast milk has in it that formula has yet to duplicate. Breastfeeding can also be such a bonding experience for both the mother and child that formula cannot provide. Ive had mothers who have done both that tell me of the difference and their feelings and bond that breastfeeding provided that formula did not.

One mother expressed feelings of regret for not breastfeeding one of her daughters. She said that because she wasnt told accurately how to breastfeed, she missed out on that bonding experience with her child. Once she was helped by a friend, she was able to breastfeed all of her other children.

Breastfeeding is a personal decision. Some women for one reason or another were never able to breastfeed. This at times can bring feelings or guilt or failure. You should never have to feel as if you are or arent a good mother.

Talk to your doctor, nurse, or friends to make sure that you are educated properly on how to breastfeed your children. Or if you make the decision to use formula, make sure you are educated properly on the differences of the formula types.

Some of the wonderful things that breast milk will do for your children is help strengthen them, help fight off infections, sickness, obesity, allergies, asthma, and sudden infant death syndrome. These are scary to the health of a newborn and its so important that they have the nutrients to be able to fight these things off.

Price is an excellent reason why some choose breast milk over formula. Formula will start adding up after a while and become really expensive. Breast milk will always be free and you will always have just enough of it.

Another good reason is the price difference. Where formula can be super expensive, breast milk is free. You will be saving hundreds of dollars by breastfeeding your children.

Breastfeeding is also good for the mother. It helps a mother get back to her natural shape, or pre-pregnancy shape by burning calories and shrinking the uterus to the natural size. It is what nature intended for mothers and children.
