Butterfly Foot Tattoos – Are Sexy, But Can Be Painful
Getting inked has become a popular way for people to express themselves these days. This is no longer something that only drunken sailors, bad boys and bad girls indulge in to be rebellious; it is an accepted art form for decorating your body. At the moment butterfly foot tattoos are very fashionable.
Tattoos are able to allow you to express your individuality, and you get to decide where on your body you want it. Tattoos can be done on any part of the body.
Regardless of how trendy and sexy a foot tattoo is, the foot is also quite a painful place to have this done. No-one is going to make a tattoo on the sole of the foot where the skin is tough, it will always be on the upper foot where the skin is thin and very close to the bone. This is why this particular part of the body is sensitive. Just catch the bridge of your foot on something like that careless supermarket shoppers’ trolley and you will know what I mean.
Some people find having a tattoo very painful, no matter where they have it. Much like my child who really wanted a tattoo just above her pubic bone, but made me go with her to hold her hand. Having someone with you can help, particularly if you are squeamish about pain. Of course my child behaved as though she was in the last throes of labor, but by squeezing my hand and hiding her face in my stomach, she managed to get through all five minutes of this incredible torture, with only one or two tears in her eye.
A tattoo on the foot is generally small, so all you have to do is ensure your tattoo artist knows what they are doing and it will all be over with very quickly. The more experience a tattoo artist is the faster they work. Another consideration when deciding to have a tattoo is the fact that touch ups often have to be made once they have healed. This applies more so in the case of foot tattoos.
The nice thing about having a foot tattoo is that you can conceal it. In other words if you don’t want that corporate client to know you are a frivolous lawyer who decided to have themselves inked, you hide it in a shoe. Then when you go to the beach on the weekend with your surfer buddies you can expose it as much as you like.
In fact most tattoos can be hidden by clothing, regardless of where they are placed on your body, except perhaps the face and neck. However as people from all walks of life like to have a tattoo because it is sexy, why hide it?
Whether you have a butterfly tattooed on your foot or something else doesn’t really matter. But what does matter is the time it takes to heal, the healing process can take anything from 2 – 3 week and it is obviously better if the wound is exposed to the fresh air. Disturbing the wound can ruin your tattoo and you will have to have it touched up, so you have to try and wear open shoes. If this is not an option then you must wear two pairs of thin socks before you put on your shoes, and hope for the best.
