Natural Resveratrol Sources

There are many natural sources of the chemical called resveratrol. But it is difficult to categorize the sources in terms as good or better. According to the amount of resveratrol present in the sources they are often termed as good, better and best.

Red grapes generally yield about 0.24 and 1.25mg per cup. However the variation of the amount of resveratrol present in grapes depends on the climate in which red grapes are grown and the way they are preserved.

Unlike what is found with berries, boiled peanuts have a higher concentration than raw ones. Peanut butter provides a very tiny amount. One would need to eat a whole cup to get a maximum of .13mg.

Scientists use the nmol/g scale to measure the amount of resveratrol present in a particular source particularly in beverages. Most of the grape juices and berry juices are no better than a negligible source of resveratrol.

It has been revealed that red wine is the bets source of resveratrol. People often consume red wine in their diet but the concentration that people require to reverse the aging process is very high. Resveratrol was firstly extracted from Japanese knotweed roots; it produced 187 mg/kg.

The amount that is found in red wines varies. All of them contain some. Even white wines contain a small amount, but more than is found in juices.

In all of the studies that have been conducted concerning the benefits of resveratrol, concentrated supplements have been used. Not once have researchers fed grapes to a rat or used a peanut to see what effect it had on a developing cancer cell.

Owing to the benefits of resveratrol people require a huge quantity of it in their day to day life thus they go for resveartrol supplements.

There are some supplements on the market with a very high content, as much as 200mg per serving. A moderate amount, 20-50mg per day is a better choice to stay fit.
